Baba Dogo

Baba Dogo is an informal settlement in Nairobi’s Eastland area, and was among the slum areas affected during the post-election violence in 2007-08.  With high levels of poverty, unemployment, and insecurity among its younger population, the youth played a major role in the chaos that ensued during the last election, leading the gangs that caused much of the looting and riots.

In Baba Dogo, there are also many flourishing groups working to improve their community. In particular, SNA-K has been privileged to work with:

ACREF Centre

Glucola Youth Group

Hatua kwa Hauta

KASH

Riverside Garbage Collection

BADUSA

Downstream Youth Group

Pillarz

Gaza Group (Laundry)

Mugure Group
